About the Event

The Independent Artists of Durban in partnership with local organizations and the community have mobilized through; campaigning, promoting public art, crowdfunding, as well as audience engagement to develop the Independent Artists Busking Project.

Busking is a very minimalistic method of monetizing ones craft and introducing Independent Artists to potential clients. BUSKING FOR A CAUSE is a call to all Independent Creatives to collaborate and find innovative and creative ways to tap into spaces in and around their respective communities.

The Independent Artists of Durban in partnership with the Mazisi Kunene Creative Innovation Centre invite you to the inaugural BUSKING FOR A CAUSE activation (featuring The Beat Route, George Mari, Philani Ngidi, Debbie Mari, Cherry Vine Collective) this Friday 16 APRIL 2021 at The Mazisi Kunene Museum (08 Delville avenue, Glenwood,Durban).  We would also like to extend an invititation to Artists and Art Fanatics in and around Durban to our weekly VETKOEK AND JAZZ (JAM SESSIONS) Thursday        5-7pm. It’s a great opportunity to network and Jam. The Mazisi Kunene Museum will also be open for guided group tours, we encourage all the curious minds to visit the museum and learn more about the Poet Laureate, Author, Academic and Activist Professor Mazisi Kunene. Bring your wallets as refreshments will be available on site, cooler boxes corkage R20. Entrance is free, but your donations go directly to Artists and ensuring they have the support necessary to flourish.
